ACBSP Questionnaire

Thank you for assisting the ACBSP working group in meeting the requirements of the ACBSP reaffirmation process.   Please complete the questionnaire and use the submit button when finished.  You will not be able to return to the questionnaire, so please allow enough time to complete the questionnaire in one sitting.   Your completion of this questionnaire provides anonymous data that will fulfill Standard 5 and will be used to complete Tables 5.5 and 5.6 as illustrated in the ACBSP Guidelines provided to you.   Again, thank you for your contribution to this effort.   If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Carleigh at carleigh.randall@viu.ca .

Examples of Activities other than Teaching
  • Community Services: if the CPA conducts an annual audit of the church's financial affairs and prepares an opinion letter, it would be considered as activities other than teaching. Community activities that are not professionally related are not to be included. For instance, general community service, such as coaching a little league soccer team or delivering meals to shut-ins, would not be considered professionally related.
  • Travel to off-campus locations: field trips
  • Administrative Duties at VIU: Program coordination, department responsibilities, etc.
  • Number of theses / ABP supervised: please provide a number of theses / ABP supervised during the last three years.
  • Number of VIU Committees: if you are part of a committee at VIU, please mention it.

Professional activities include routine application of the faculty member's professional expertise in helping solve problems in either the private or public sectors (Paid or Volunteer Service)

Example of Professional Activities

• Activities in support of professional organizations (e.g., attending and participating in professional meetings, workshops, conferences, symposia)
• Business and Industry Interactions (Business chamber memberships, inviting guest speakers to class/events, leadership roles in professional organizations, boards, commissions, etc.)
• Activities directly tied to the academic discipline of the faculty member and consistent with the stated mission of the business programs (Community and university service activities not directly related to the faculty member's discipline do not satisfy this standard )
• Guest speakers, internships, partnerships
• Involvement in accreditation processes
• Multicultural and diversity initiatives (on-campus or off-campus)
• Continuing education (classes, seminars, certifications, learning new skills/techniques, etc.)
