MBA Students

  1. 1Must maintain a ‘C+’ average (2.33) in each SEMESTER of the program (after Semester 1, Semester 2, Semester 3, and Semester 4);
  2. Must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.33 to transition to the ABP and Internship.
  3. Must achieve an overall ‘C+” CGPA to graduate from the MBA program.
  4. That receive a grade below a ‘C+’ in an individual course, or an overall GPA less than 2.33 (C+) for any Module or Semester within the program, is required to meet with the Graduate Programs Advisor to map out a plan to improve their academic standing.
  5. May receive a failing grade and may retake up to 4 courses or 12 credits of coursework, whichever comes first. If they fail a 5th course or 13 or more credits, they will be asked to leave the program. Students that are asked to leave the program may re-apply after a period of 1 year (12 months) with proof of improved academic standing. 

GDPM/GDIT Students

The Diploma will be awarded upon successful completion of required coursework with a minimum of a "C" grade in any course and an overall "C+" GPA for the program.

GCIB Students

The Certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of 30 credits of selected VIU Business courses with a minimum “C” average.

You will be required to re-enrol in the course and pay tuition for that course prior to being enrolled.

Yes, but it must be approved and documented by the Associate Dean, Graduate Programs. Failure to gain approval before leaving the program will result in dismissal from the program.

No, students are required to complete all courses in the program in the semester that they are allocated to. If you are having challenges in a course, it is important to meet with an advisor and to access all available resources to assist you in completing the course. 

All FOM graduate programs consist of 12 to 15 credits per semester of study which is more than the 9 credits/semester required for full time studies.

  • Students must maintain minimum GPA’s according to their specific programs, as outlined in the What is the minimum GPA requirement to progress in the program FAQ section. 
  • A student is placed on probation when they complete a semester with a GPA below 2.33 (a ‘C’ average). 
  • A student will be removed from probation status when they achieve a GPA of 2.33 or higher in the subsequent term and placed back on regular status.
  • If the student fails to attain a GPA of 2.33 or higher in the subsequent term, that student will be suspended.
  • Re-admission is not automatic as it will depend on availability of space. This decision is made by the Associate Dean, Graduate Programs.
