Parks and Recreation Facilities in Vancouver

The issue of urban sprawl is widely spreading throughout and with the rise of  increasingly more and more mega cities across the world; the city administrations find it  extremely difficult to address issues around sustainability and livability. In many urban settings across several nations the city administrations fail to execute planning before the development actually occurs. This leads to uncontrolled regional development and also becomes the cause of many social, economic and environmental issues. Parks, trail networks and recreation facilities is one essential element which is dealt with precision by cities which have constantly been ranked at the top amongst the list of “Most livable cities”.
The city of Vancouver, BC-Canada is a perfect example where parks and recreation sites hold a significant place in the overall context of rapid urban development. Since decades the city has taken special efforts to preserve and improvise the natural eco system that the region is blessed with. Vancouver city has huge amounts of green spaces which have been resourcefully utilized to promote social, economic and environmental development. The city of Vancouver is the first to have a separate board of members for managing parks and recreational facilities which is responsible to safeguard, nurture and improvise the existing green spaces and areas of recreation and also identify potential scope of development to meet the future generations need.
The statistical data of the city clearly indicates that parks and recreational facilities have had huge advantages in making the city of Vancouver as one of the world’s most desired place to reside. The city of Vancouver is a perfect example for administrative governments from other huge urban settings to identify the need to conserve, promote and expand the green spaces and recreational facilities in order to be more sustainable.
