Tutoring Services

The Economics Department has been providing tutoring services since the summer of 2003.  The tutoring services are provided in the Dr. Jixin Xu Tutorial Centre, Building 250, Room 440.

Tutoring is provided free of charge to first and second year students who may be having difficulties with their economics courses.  The tutors are paid by VIU for their services.

The tutor selection is a competitive process.  The final selection is made by the Chair in consultation with other department members.  Students who will be selected as tutors must have a grade of A in Economics 211 and Economics 212, or their equivalents.  In addition, the tutor must have a good command of English, be polite, people-oriented, and professional.  The position is advertised on the Campus Career Centre website in late August.  If you are interested and qualified, please contact the Chair for more details.
