Master of Arts in Sustainable Leisure Management

The MA in Sustainable Leisure Management (MASLM) allows leaders the opportunity to explore and apply innovative solutions to sustainability challenges in the global context. Students are instructed by VIU faculty, international scholars from the
World Leisure Organization and recognized leaders in sustainable development. In today's climate, all industries must examine and enhance their sustainability practices. This requires innovative thinking and leadership to bring about change.

This 2 year program starts with an 8 month residency for coursework in Nanaimo. Students then participate in an applied field experience and complete a research thesis. The MASLM program prepares leaders to examine and create solutions, which ensure that residents and travelers alike can enjoy recreation experiences, natural and cultural amenities, heritage resources, and adventure as part of their life experiences on a sustainable basis.

MASLM faculty and staff are dedicated to making your educational journey one of great discovery. We are excited by this program and the potential to interact with the international community to further our collective understanding of innovation and sustainability in leisure.
