Grandkids University 2019 - Adventure for Living

Adventure for Living

The Recreation and Tourism Management Department, with the support of VIU Outdoor Recreation and WLCE, joined the 2019 GrandKids University. The facilitators Amanda Johnson, Vanessa Moraes, Matt Kellow, and Farhad Moghimehfar conducted the activities of the 'Major' Adventure for Living in a very fun and informative way.

Recreation Prescription Project

The Recreation Prescription Project is a partnership between Vancouver Island University (VIU), the City of Nanaimo Parks and Recreation, Division of Family Practice, and the Nanaimo Ladysmith School District to introduce Grade 5 students to more active and healthy lifestyles. The 16-week recreation program is offered in three elementary schools to over 100 students.

Leisure Experience Research Opportunity - Hangzhou, China

This is a unique opportunity to engage in a research project with students from WLCE Network.

The students will be conducting ethnographic research in the city of Hangzhou, China, reporting on their experiences as a tourist during the programme. The students will also have the chance to participate in the 4th WLO Expo and Forum "Leisure City, Better Life" and hear from speakers on the topic of leisure studies.
