Leisure Experience Research Opportunity - Hangzhou, China

This is a unique opportunity to engage in a research project with students from WLCE Network.

The students will be conducting ethnographic research in the city of Hangzhou, China, reporting on their experiences as a tourist during the programme. The students will also have the chance to participate in the 4th WLO Expo and Forum "Leisure City, Better Life" and hear from speakers on the topic of leisure studies.

Recreation Prescription Project - VIU CREATE 2019

Recreation Prescription Project - Photovoice

The Photovoice Activity, part of the Recreation Prescription Project, was displayed last week at the VIU CREATE 2019 and Research Week. The project team was represented by Kenzie Schroeder and Taisa Andrushko, students in the Bachelor of Tourism Management Program.

For the purpose of the Photovoice, the participants received a disposable camera and were invited to capture images that would reflect healthy or unhealthy lifestyles. 

The PechaKucha Night was a Gift!

Exploring the topic Gift and Exchange, the PechaKucha Night Nanaimo Vol.8 that took place at VIU last Friday, March 29, was a true gift for all the participants. Six speakers shared their stories with an attentive audience in a very enjoyable venue, the VIU Trades Discovery Centre. The public was welcomed by volunteer students and could enjoy a social gathering before the presentations, with live music played by Mike Bauche, a welcome drink, and appetizers.
