VIU's World Leisure Centre of Excellence is pleased to welcome Pamela Duynstee, Sustainable Tourism Program Manager for GreenStep Solutions, and Dr. Kajsa Åberg, Regional Development Organization of Västerbotten, northern Sweden, invited speakers for the next World VIU Points to be held online on February 26th, 7:00 - 8:15 am PST.

Vancouver Island University marks Global Citizens Week each year with events, visiting speakers, and classroom dialogues that explore issues of global development at home and abroad.

This year VIU is exploring the theme of Equity in Action.

Graduate Scholarship Opportunity at Vancouver Island University

Drs Suzanne de la Barre and Patrick Brouder are offering two graduate scholarships starting Fall 2021. The SSHRC funded project examines the role of the cultural and creative economies in rural and remote communities where place-based development has been central to building community resilience.

World VIU Points with Dr. Kajsa Åberg - December 10th

VIU's World Leisure Centre of Excellence is pleased to welcome Dr. Kajsa Åberg, Regional Development Organization of Västerbotten, northern Sweden. She is joining the MASLM program in December as a visiting scholar and is the invited speaker for the next World VIU Points to be held online on December 10th, 7:00 - 8:15 am PST.

Dr. Åberg's presentation is titled "Innovations in Destination Development in Small Regional Cities – The Case for Umeå, in northern Sweden".
