The activity report describes the initiatives of VIU’s WLCE from September 2019 to August 2021.
VIU's WLCE team is pleased to release its latest Activity Report that comprises the initiatives of the Centre from September 2019 to August 2021.
As World Leisure Centres of Excellence, we are tasked to be outposts of leisure studies, research, and community projects around the world. We do this with an appreciation for the challenges that result from the climate crisis and other global events, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, by mitigating against old ways of exploring and travelling, and by applying innovation to our problem-solving. We have had to ask new questions in response to ever-emerging issues and perspectives which have confronted our views on the importance of leisure in society today. As is demonstrated in the activity report, we have continued to press into those issues with diverse approaches across a broad spectrum of events, community engagement initiatives, theses, presentations, and debates, with support from collaborations and partnerships and with assistance from local and international scholarships, awards, and funding opportunities.
